Flood of 1904
The Grand River reached flood stage on March 25, 1904, and as thawing
and rain continued the river peaked three days later.
Most of the flood damage was on the West side,
the east side being on higher ground.
Many West Side residents were trapped in their homes and had to be rescued by boat. Unofficial damage estimates were placed at $1 million.
